Our Story
Pigeon Park was farmed by my Mother's family, the Forans, for generations. It was a livestock only farm until, in 2012, I took on its full-time operation and set about developing its 30 odd hectares into a commercial stud farm. The development is a gradual and ongoing process.
We started out with just a couple of mares and gradually increased the broodmare band to its current level of eight. The majority of our mares are flat-bred, apart from a couple of National Hunt (NH) ones. We generally sell the progeny as flat-bred yearlings or three-year-old NH stores.
The singular focus at Pigeon Park is to breed winners. We strive to be a reliable source of sound and successful racehorses. Our logic is that, over time, the market place should reward this approach and we will then have a viable and sustainable business on our hands.
The first winner bred by Pigeon Park Stud came in 2013. Since then, there have been 31 individual winners bred by the Stud and between them they have won a total of 78 races. races won by Pigeon Park Stud progeny include a Group 1, a Group 2, two Group 3 and three Listed races.
One thing is certain, any success that is achieved at Pigeon Park Stud is as a result of team effort. consists of a small number of dedicated staff and a few key service providers. Without their outstanding endeavour and commitment we could not succeed.
